History of Walter's Woods

The Forrest Hills neighborhood greenspace, known as Walter's Woods, is named for Walter Keller, a former, much-loved resident, whose creative mind hatched the idea. The neighborhood association purchased the property in July of 1998, at which time it consisted of two kudzu-covered, trash-littered lots on the edge of the creek that runs through the neighborhood.

Five years and countless hours of neighbor sweat equity later, Walter's Woods is well on the way to realizing its promise as our neighborhood park. The Association commissioned a professional landscape plan in 2003, and implementation of the plan began in the summer of 2004.
