Walter's Woods

FHNA Involvement

FLASH!!!

There is now a new and improved way to help with the greenspace. You will notice a real estate flyer box has been installed at the greenspace. Inside, you will find a list of tasks that need to be completed if you have a short while or longer to help with our beautification efforts. As stated in the instructions, if you find the time to volunteer at the greenspace, please email our greenspace coordinator as soon as possible. Thanks so much as always.

The implementation of the landscape plan will only happen with the help of Forrest Hills residents. We are trying to use volunteer labor and donated materials as much as possible so that we can stretch our funds as far as possible.

Many attempts to transplant trees and shrubs in the greenspace have been unsuccessful due to the ground being too saturated. So we are now moving onto plan B - coordinating a workday at the last minute when the weather and soil conditions are favorable. Tasks to be completed include transplanting trees and bushes, clearing out ivy, planting perennials, and cleaning out the creek.

If you are able to be on the "on call" list for upcoming workdays, please contact the greenspace coordinator. Also, we need volunteers to mow the greenspace from now until the fall. If you are willing to volunteer to mow the greenspace, again please contact the greenspace coordinator.

Also, I will be meeting with our landscape consultant soon to plan what steps we should take next in implementing the landscape plan. So please stay tuned for more announcements of upcoming workdays and requests for donated plant material.

We need volunteers to help with all of these tasks! If you are willing to help, please send an email to our greenspace coordinator.
