Forrest Hills has an extremely active Neighborhood Watch Program. The FHNA Security Coordinator works closely with the Dekalb Police Department, off-duty police officers and volunteer residents to keep an eye on our neighborhood.

If an incident does occur, we rely on mailing lists to disseminate information about the incident. While email is the fastest way to get details of an event to residents, not all residents have access to email. For this reason, we have Block Captains.

As information is sent to the neighborhood mailing list, it is also sent to Block Captains, who can then inform neighbors without email. This can be done via telephone or house visit.

Each block captain is responsible for informing about 10-12 households. That number is usually smaller, however, because some of the households will have email access.

If you are interested in becoming a block captain, please send an email to our security coordinator. Please consider helping: it's a small commitment in terms of time and effort, but is a big help in distributing information quickly.

You can also download a "Know Your Neighbor" form (pdf). This useful document contains a chart for you to fill in the names and numbers of your closest neighbors, allowing for quick reference in an emergency. It also lists contact information Dekalb County Officials.

Thank you!
